Nancy and Youssef’s downtown Detroit elopement photos felt editorial, chic, and so timeless. Their May elopement started at the Fisher Building before wandering through downtown Detroit, stopping at John King Books, and ending with portraits at Michigan Central Station with their sweet dog, Taku. More than anything, this day was a reminder that elopement photography can feel relaxed and intentional at the same time.

With thoughtful location planning, clear guidance, and plenty of time for posing that still felt natural, Nancy and Youssef were able to really enjoy the experience while creating Detroit elopement photos that felt timeless, personal, and true to them and their relationship!

Detroit Elopement Photos at The Fisher Building & Downtown

Nancy and Youssef eloped at city hall, so these were their post-elopement portraits. We started at the Fisher Building before heading into downtown Detroit for a few more photos. They both looked incredible, and Nancy’s white bridal jumpsuit with the sheer floral lace overlay was such a chic choice.

This was also their first real photoshoot together, so they told me they felt a little nervous and awkward in front of the camera. I always want my couples to feel taken care of from the very beginning, so before their session, I sent over a client guide with helpful details like parking, location notes, and costs. Then, during their Detroit elopement photos, I took my time guiding them through posing so nothing felt rushed or confusing. They told me how much they appreciated that direction, and honestly, you would never know they were nervous because they looked like naturals!

The Fisher Building and downtown Detroit are such beautiful choices for elopement portraits. It gives you that mix of historic architecture and timeless backdrops all in one area. The Fisher Building also welcomes photography on the first floor of the arcade with no fee, unless you’re hoping to access other parts of the building, which would need to be coordinated with them. As a Detroit elopement photographer, I love helping couples choose locations that feel stylish and easy to enjoy.

Cozy Bookstore Elopement Photos at John King Books

After downtown, we made our way to John King Books for a cozier part of their session. I always love when couples add a location that feels a little more personal to them, and a bookstore is such a fun idea if you and your partner love to read or just want a more relaxed setting for your portraits. It added a more intimate feel to their Detroit elopement photos, with rows of books, soft window lighting, and little details like their rings stacked on top of a book for detail shots.

Whether it’s for an elopement day or engagement photos, choosing a location like this can make the experience feel even more like you, and add variety to your gallery!

Downtown Detroit Elopement Photos at Michigan Central Station

We ended Nancy and Youssef’s downtown Detroit elopement outside of Michigan Central Station, and of course, we had to include their sweet dog, Taku, for a few portraits! I loved that their day brought together so many classic Detroit locations, from the Fisher Building to downtown, John King Books, and finally Michigan Central Station. It made their photos feel full and so connected to the city.

Michigan Central Station is such a beautiful spot for outdoor portraits because the architecture gives you those grand, timeless backdrops. The outdoor area is also a great option if you want portraits here without an additional location fee. If you’re hoping for photos inside, you can book 30-minute time slots for $250 per slot. As a Detroit elopement photographer, I always love helping couples think through these details ahead of time so the day feels easy and relaxed for them.

Detroit Elopement Photos With a Relaxed, Guided Experience

I had so much fun spending the day with Nancy and Youssef, and it was such a sweet reminder of why I love photographing elopements in Detroit. More than anything, I want my couples to feel comfortable, cared for, and never left wondering what to do next. From sending a client guide with helpful details like parking, costs, and location notes to taking my time with posing and direction, my goal is always to make the experience feel relaxed and easy!

If you’re looking for a Detroit elopement photographer who will document your day with a storytelling approach, natural direction, and a little editorial feel, I’d love to connect with you. Love From Nancy & Youssef:

“I found Sheree through Instagram! Fell in love with her gallery and sent her an email right away. Sheree answered very quickly and answered all my questions. She was able to fit us into her schedule on short notice. We booked her for a 2 hour photo session for our post city hall photoshoot! And we are so sooo happy we did!!

This was our first real photoshoot and Sheree was so sooo amazing! Made us feel very comfortable and great vibes! She was able to direct us with poses which was exactly what we wanted because I’m awkward and never know how to pose haha. She took her time to make it extra special and we didn’t feel rushed or stressed at all!

So everyone has their “good side and bad side” right? but Sheree made my “bad side” look sooo beautiful in my eyes!! Literally made me feel so beautiful even on the side that I never like having my photo taken from! Long story short my husband and I had such a great time and are in love with our photo album!

Thank you so sooo much Sheree!! And we hope to book with you again! 😍😍😍😍

If you’re reading reviews to help you decide to book or not, this is your sign to just go ahead and book right now!!! You won’t be disappointed!! 12/10 will recommend!!! 😋😋”
